Tentmakers
The Tentmakers Ministry is envisioned to be a movement of men and women who will glorify God by pursuing Christ-likeness in advancing God’s kingdom in their families, ministries, workplaces, communities and the mission field. Its mission is to facilitate the making of disciples who are also able to influence others to walk with God faithfully, nurture their families responsibly, relate to one another accountability, reach out to others passionately, and support missions generously. It is in these aspirations that the ministry pursue and provide avenues for men and women to get equipped, take part in various good works, and thus fulfill their call in the Body of Christ.
The ministry started four years ago as Men’s Fellowship out of the desire to gather LHCM men three times a year to present themselves before the Lord not empty handed as prescribed in the Deuteronomy 16:16. Alongside, Women’s Fellowship was also created to have their own triannual gathering. After almost a year, the two groups were combined to form the Men’s and Women’s Fellowship (MWF). The merger proved to be beneficial as it opened new ministry avenues. From simply dealing with gender specific concerns, the combined group is able to pursue activities pertaining to parenting, family, and finances.
Since then, MWF started holding in-house special interest seminars as well as outreach projects like visiting and giving gifts to children of incarcerated parent(s); packaging food boxes in a metro-wide food depository; and clothing distribution for pastors and church leaders in the Philippines. MWF involved itself in organizing special events like Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Valentine’s Day and church picnic. MWF also held weekends of packaging of educational toys for missions, and find ways to help raise funds for missions through special offering.
With a wide array of possible outreach and missions projects that the group can pursue, MWF evolved into Men’s and Women’s Ministry, and recently adopted the name Tentmakers Ministry. This is in reference to Acts 18:3, wherein Paul joined and ministered together with Aquilla and Priscilla because they were of the same craft. The new name depicts not only the joining together of men and women in doing ministry; but also highlights the principle of using one’s trade to give glory to God and further His kingdom. Today, the Tentmakers Ministry seeks to launch various outreach projects, living by the pioneering spirit of LHCM in breaking new grounds for the glory of God!
