LHCM VIRTUAL MARATHON

WHAT IS IT? A Virtual Marathon is a competitive footrace in which a competitor registers online, goes out and runs the required distance in their own time – choosing their own start line and route – and finally upload their race data or finish time. The certificate of completion and finishers medal will be mailed out shortly after.

WHY? For the first time ever, LHCM is hosting a virtual marathon in order to raise money for a Lion’s Heart Headquarters in the Philippines.

WHEN? The first phase of the marathon will be from August 9 - August 19, 2024. During this phase, any registered competitior can complete the 5k, 10k, half-marathon, or full marathon. Phase 1 will close on August 17, 2024 with a bake sale. The second phase of the marathon is from October 11, 2024 - October 21, 2024. Similarly to Phase 1, registered competitors can complete any of the race options and submit proof of completion in order to receive a certificate of completion and finishers medal.

HOW DO I SUBMIT PROOF OF COMPLETION? Proof of completion can be submitted via the running app Strava. Through Strava, your route, time, and distance will be recorded. In order for LHCM to see your recorded run, please join the LHCM Run Club on Strava. Completion can also be submitted via email. Please send a picture of your route and a picture of runners at the start and end of the route to lhcmvirtualmarathon@gmail.com. Any recorded distances on a treadmill or other workout apps can also be sent in as verification.

MARATHON CLINICS: Marathon clinics will be held at 5821 N Nagle Ave, Chicago IL 60646 on July 13, 2024, and September 28, 2024. The following services will be provided:

  • safety, nutrition, hydration, and training information

  • testimonials from marathon runners

  • free basic medical checks

There will also an on-site bake sale. All clinics will be recorded and posted on Instagram and Facebook.
